Microsoft Offers Final Updates to XP, Office 2003

On the same day that Windows XP gets its final updates – April 8, 2014 – so does Office 2003. What does this mean? Companies who have kept Windows XP and/or Office 2003 have a compounded issue with which to deal.

April 8, 2014 is the last security update for both Windows XP and Office 2003. And since August 2012, there have been 10 security bulletins issued for Office 2003 alone – half of them rated critical! Without further security updates, Windows XP and Office 2003 may not be safe enough for continued use.

Think about it like this – this software is over 10 years old! Microsoft has extended support through April 2014, but has made no promises to extend support any further. It’s doubtful they will.

It might be time to think about migrating to a newer version once and for all!
